Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir & Batin.
It's another trip to Thailand for this Raya celebration. As usual, we went by a big group, a total of 12 cars were in our group and if not mistaken there was 14 families. A few of the families went to the Cameron Highlands trip with us last month.
I have been to many parts of Thailand over the years and this time, we chose Songkhla. Songkhla is one of the southern provinces in Thailand and the biggest city in Songkhla is the famous Hatyai. This is the first time we are in the middle of Songkhla and the place we stayed is surrounded by fishing boats and mangroves.
First stop: Da Tong Restaurant
On your way to Hatyai, you may pass a restaurant alongside the road which is not particularly visible but indeed crowded with people. I have been to this restaurant for its delicious chicken rice several time and the taste does not bore me at all. Although the price is a little ridiculous, none of the customers made a complaint.
One of the reason it became so popular is of the big chopping board. Look at the size of it!
RM20 or 200Baht per plate which is said to have half of a chicken. Totally small and not enough for a family of 6. You can order side dishes such as fishball soup and roast pork.
Second stop: Sabai-Sabai Resort
Truth to be told, this place stinks! The rooms are beautiful, the place is clean, everything was nice and new but because we were surrounded by fishing villages you have no choice but to take in all the smell of dead fish, ewww. Price rate at RM60/night for a standard bedroom. We basically rented out the whole resort cause there were so many of us.
The small area of what-is-called a beach. Dirt, pebbles, sand, stinky dead fish, fishing boats and mangrove trees. The website cheated us badly. The room is covered with mirrors which is kind of creepy when you want to sleep at night. The bathroom was huge and with a window that can let the room see you while you shower, oh my. We stayed in the resort till night time and went to a restaurant near our resort recommended by the owner for a nice Thai food dinner. The place was crappy but the food was great and the price was reasonable. Too bad I couldn't take any photos.
Third stop: Pork porridge
Fourth stop: Sleeping Buddha Temple
It was just a place we decided to stop for a rest. Had our big group shot, spot me! I guess we had over 60 persons or even 70 cause some didn't join us.
Bought a lot of coconut ice cream in a coconut. Oh love. Fifth stop: Local Museum
Only some of the children went inside to explore cause it included a small jungle trekking, everyone was too lazy. We waited outside and everybody was bored to death, not the dads tho, they were having fun gambling.
What a brilliant idea to use a bucket and a piece of board as the surface for the gambling. Daddy had fun losing money, bad daddy. Then we had lunch near the museum recommended by the locals, the food was average but the price was totally awesomely cheap, total of RM360 for us all. Sixth stop: Picnic near the dragon head fountain The afternoon was still early and we had nothing to do so we came to this place for a nice picnic. Artists painting away. You can paint for free with only RM2 per ceramic doll. We went back our resort and had BBQ for dinner prepared by the resort. I was too full from eating too much so I could not have the chance to try the food, everyone said it was delicious. Seventh stop: Hatyai Had this amazing pork leg rice in Hatyai as our lunch. In Thai, it's pronounced as Khao Kha Moo. It can found in the food court at the top floor of Odean Shopping Mall. Looking at it now is making me hungry. Thailand's Auntie Anne's has a special Sunshine Pizza which does not sell in Malaysia. Randomly found it in the food court at the lower ground of Central Shopping Mall. The traffic was massive at the Changloon border so we decided to take the Padang Besar border and had dinner at a restaurant which my dad went for almost 20 years whenever he is there. And that's the end of my Raya vacation in Thailand. Selamat Hari Raya everybody. Xx. Today's my birthday! Happy 21st birthday to myself! How is it possible that I'm always so adorable? x) Labels: travel 0 Comments:
