Off to Osaka, Japan. Part I
It still feels like a dream I dreamt for a long long time, I can't believe I actually went to Japan and back, a month ago! Damnnnnn, I'm so overdue LOL There's so many good reasons to choose Osaka 大阪 over Tokyo 东京 for a budget traveller/student like me to travel with a bunch of friends. The total bill of my vacation was ONLY RM6000 including flight, accommodation, fancy food, extravagant shopping spree and overly bought souvenirs! Totally worth it, considering I really bought so many things and gained so much experience with Japan's culture and lifestyle. Moral of previous story learnt and newly improved: Day 1/ Jun 15: KIX/ Matsuyamachi/ Shinsabashi/ Kyobashi It was a 6.5 hours flight, longest flight I've taken. By the time we reach Osaka International Airport (KIX), it was already 11pm and we couldn't take public transport back to our hostel so we spent the night sleeping on airport lounges. First meal in Japan! Sukiya, selling beef rice from RM10 a bowl! OMFG effing cheap I tell you >< You wouldn't believe how shocked we were to see this kind of price in Japan, not to mention in an airport. No need for jealousy, I saw a branch in Subang Jaya, now you can go crazy. I've heard that Japan has a vending machine for everything. Tho a cigarette vending machine is nothing special, I consider it something worth taking a picture of. The sunrise in Japan is too early. This is actually 4.30am of their time, which is 3.30am of our time. Malaysia 7am sun also not yet rise finish lor.. (Gonna start using Japan timezone from next paragraph onwards) The weather so cool and nice even tho it's Summer, not considering it was basically still midnight. We laid on the road to take a selfie. HA. Had our breakfast at 5.30am so we could catch the JR train and subway back to our place ASAP. We got lost on the way. We spent an hour trying to find our hostel because someone told us to get off the subway a station too soon. We got lost again. This is how it actually looks like when you get out of the right subway station, Matsuyamachi 松屋町. And then we spent another half hour walking to our place from the subway station which was actually a 7-minute walk because we got lost AGAIN. Finally! Our lovely living room. Found this gem on Airbnb, great website. To get a tour of our place, click HERE. After resting for a while we went out to explore a little bit of Osaka. Walked around Shisaibashi 心斋桥 a bit.. ..and then we walked some more. (Actually both pictures taken from same place, I just turned left and right HAHAHA) And then we explored a place called Osaka Business Park in search for dinner. FAIL! Bennie, who actually stays in Cyberjaya, described that place as a replica of Cyberjaya. Personally, I think it's more like Central 中环 or KL city without the shopping centres. So we went to the next station, Kyobashi 京桥. Walked the streets trying to find a new place to eat but couldn't find any cheap food. Ended up having our first ramen meal in Japan. That's the end of the first day.
..to be continued.
