Off to Osaka, Japan. Part II
Day 2/ Jun 16: Nara/ Shinsaibashi Day 2 of the vacation, we wanted to travel to the furthest well known place accessible by JR train, Kobe 神户. We got out of the hostel at 8.30am but because we didn't know how to take the JR train, we got lost again. Then we changed our mind to go to Nara 奈良. The colour choice of the day: Blue. It was a day of sadness when there was so many things to take pictures of. You know why? Because every gadget I had with me was running out of battery! That includes phone, camera AND power bank! And it was only 11am when I realized that. Just feel the pain that I felt >< The streets of Nara when we were on our way to finding the treasure of Nara. It looks so much like a movie set, so adorable. This place is a tourist wonderland, no joke. Because it was only our second day in Japan, we didn't understand the standard price of a thing and thought that everything was too expensive. So this was the only I bought at RM40, it's a cake of some sort, like our thousand layer cake but it's round. Awesome jump shot that makes my legs look cacat hahahaha. *Jeng* My sohai face with a deer headband. LOL And then ME AND A DEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR! So sorry I sang "doe, a deer, a female deer" on Instagram. #notadoe SUPER CUTE KID WITH CHERRY BUNS! Randomly came across these Taiwanese on their wedding photo shooting. They look so sweet together :) About to start the forest walk in Nara Park and there's this gigantic shrine gate. Our epic group pic! Deers can be seen everywhere once you start the forest walk. The forest walk is approximately 1.2km to reach Kasuga Taisha Shrine 春日大社 at the end of the walk. After that we walked to Todaiji Temple 東大寺 and there was more deers. Yeah, they're everywhere. At night we went back to Osaka and walked more of Shinsaibashi 心斎橋, shopped in the two biggest H&M and Uniqlo shops in Japan, possibly the world too. They both have 6 floors for shopping. Day 3/ Jun 17: Kyoto
Just had to squeeze in one day of Kyoto 京都 into this post because the Nara trip is too short. The second day of Kyoto will be posted separately.
I didn't take a lot of pictures for this day of Kyoto because frankly there wasn't much to take pictures of. It was all nature and nothing particular to be fascinated of. We took a train called Sago Scenic Railway 嵯峨野観光鉄道 inside a small train museum from Torokko Saga Station トロッコ嵯峨駅 which is just next to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station 嵯峨嵐山駅 (15 minutes, 240 yen one way from Kyoto Station). The scene along the Hozu River 保津川 was beautiful, unfortunately it wasn't Fall, it'd be more breathtaking then. Which is what I thought during my whole vacation in Japan, I SHOULD'VE COME IN FALL! But I didn't have the time and money to visit.. (The greatest regret of all) The end terminal for the 25 minutes train ride is Torokko Kameoka Station トロッコ亀岡駅 where you get to see huge paddy fields. How adorable that the dandelion in Japan is so big, exactly like how you see in TV. Malaysia's dandelions are so small it's sad. I know my face a bit cacat here haha. And we found this living fossil in a river! (Actually my friends found it, I was busy taking pictures of the dandelion). It's called Longtail Tadpole Shrimp (Triops longicaudatus) 三眼恐龍蝦, according to Wikipedia, it has been in existence since 70 millions ago and has only 3 months of life after hatched from egg. (Now you learned something! Yeah!) After taking enough pictures, we took the JR train back to Arashiyama 嵐山 on our way to the famous bamboo forest. We came across many many small houses of Japan which made us wonder how possibly they can all fit into one small house, no wonder Japanese are known for being short. *Tada* Granted I only had a small digital camera, this is still a good picture, right right? Okay so the disappointment was that it wasn't as breathtaking as it is shown in brochures but still absolutely beautiful. If you came in October, they'd have this.. I don't know what it's called but it's very special LOL. I've always wanted to experience this when watching TV and here our group shot. The colour choice of the day: Red. Finishing the walk in the bamboo forest, we went back to Kyoto Station for early dinner. Look see look see, it's the Kyoto Tower! This is typically a portion for one Japanese girl which was actually more than enough for two of us Malaysians. Finally, I have finished writing the second post about this vacation.
..to be continued.
